Frequently Asked Questions
Where is MLA Industries located?
We operate in the beautiful state of Alabama just south of Birmingham in Pelham, AL.
What kind of services does MLA Industries offer?
We can assist with almost any stage of the product development process. We offer services ranging from concept generation, prototyping, feasibility analysis, engineering studies, etc. We focus on creating physical items. Check out Services for more info.
What kind of software or tools does MLA Industries use?
For design and engineering purposes, we harness the power of SOLIDWORKS for our 3D modeling needs. We use our in-house 3D printer as needed for basic prototyping. And we are also equipped to perform a variety of engineering studies.
As far as machine tools, we have a nearly limitless array of possibilities as we collaborate with cutting edge manufacturers all across the world. Our extensive network of fabricators both locally and abroad is ready and willing to work with us to manufacture anything you can dream up. Whether it’s a matter of developing a fixture that gets fabricated at a local machine shop or designing a functional prototype that is produced with overseas technology, we have the contacts to connect those dots!
What kind of clients does MLA Industries serve? Can you help me?
The typical industries we serve range from industrial, automotive, agricultural, medical, and more. With the available engineering technologies of today, however, we believe almost any product can be developed and almost any process can be improved upon regardless of industry.
Do you work with established companies or individuals?
We work with both individuals and companies at almost any stage of the product development life cycle. After a brief consultation, we’ll be clear if we’re a good fit moving forward or give suggestions on what direction we’d recommend for your situation. Drop us a line and we’ll see if we can help! How is my idea protected?
The development of a product is often one that has inventors worried about their ideas staying protected and we understand that! We have mutual NDAs available for use with any potential clients that would like an added layer of protection before discussing an idea.
Do I need a patent before coming to MLA Industries?
Nope. The patent process can be long and arduous. You may have needs such as prototyping or feasibility studies that would help you assess if a patent is worth seeking. Reach out to us and we can walk you through the typical process involved with applying for a patent. Contact
What does an initial consultation look like/cost? Can we meet face to face?
We place high priority on setting clear expectations, so here’s what the typical process looks like. Fill out a submission on the Contact or email us at info@mla-industries.com. Within 2 business days, we will set a day/time for an initial consultation and/or ask for further information/documentation about the project. The initial consultation will typically be about an hour long phone call with someone from our team. We are happy to meet face to face if requested and if we deem it necessary for better understanding of the project.
Based on the initial consultation, we will recommend if we can be of value to your project. If so, we will work with you to create a clear scope of work and quote for the services. Our aim is to always maintain clear expectations in any contractual agreements and anticipated costs. That being said, the initial consultation is always free.
How much are the services MLA Industries offers?
It depends (typical engineering response, right?). Your project is extremely unique to your stage of development and your current processes, so cookie-cutter prices on project types don't tend to best serve our clients. After an initial (free) consultation, we are happy to provide a quote to give you a better understanding of the potential costs.
I don't even know where to start, can you help me?
MLA Industries was formed to help bridge the gap between mental images and physical reality. Reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do or what direction we’d recommend you go! Contact
